Alastair Cook is considering an offer to try his luck in the comments early next year.
ESPNcricinfo understands that Cook, who is withdrawing from the Test Cricket at the end of the current match against India at The Oval, is in talks with TalkSport to join his team of commentators for the England tour of the Caribbean in early 2019.
TalkSport gave notice of its ambition earlier this year by winning audio rights to the England series in Sri Lanka and the Caribbean during the 2018-19 season.
It is understood that Mark Nicholas, Darren Gough, David Lloyd and Jarrod Kimber are part of the commentary team in various stages of winter.
It is also believed that TalkSport is likely to receive the rights to The Tour of England for South Africa in 2019-20, with the BBC retaining the rights to the New Zealand tour that precedes it. The BBC also won a long-term agreement to broadcast the Ashes, men and women, and events of the ICC.
A final decision on Cook's involvement has not yet been made, but initial interest suggests he will not have opportunities in his post-game career.
