Injury-hit Bangladesh recall Mominul for Asia Cup

Dhaka – Bangladesh has added batter Mominul Haque to his
squad for the Asian Cup as support for several players with injuries,
the selectors said on Friday.

"He is a first-order hitter, who can play as a starter
or in (the) position from bottom to bottom. So we thought that its inclusion could be useful in
the tournament, "said Habibul Bashar.

Starter Tamim Iqbal has a problem with his finger while
left-hander Nazmul Hossain hurt his left thumb during a recent
training session.

"We hope both of you play, but we think
Mominul could play alone if they feel any problems, "Bashar added.

Bangladesh is Group B along with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in
the six-nation Asian Cup, which will be held from September 15 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates
