Kemar Roach gets all-format West Indies contract

Rapid bowler Kemar Roach is back in a central contract for the Antilles. He was one of four players who offered full-format contracts for 2018-1919, according to the list announced by Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Monday. The other three are captain Jason Holder, batter Shai Hope and pacemaker Alzarri Joseph, all with full format contracts in the previous cycle as well.

Roach, 30, has resumed his role as spearhead of the West Indies in the past year, after being removed on the form in 2016. He was called in July 2017, and has since taken 41 lands in 11 Tests at 22.58, and 10 fields from five ODI at 18.60.

CWI also handed out red balls, white-ball and development contracts for men, according to the new system announced in January, and 12 women's contracts. The previous contracts expired on September 30, but the new ones will have an expiration date prior to July 1 to ensure that all cricketers in the system, both international and national, have contracts that are executed simultaneously. All contracts will end on June 30, 2019.

The batter Evin Lewis rejected the white-ball contract that was offered to him, CWI said in a statement. Several players from the West Indies have rejected contracts in the past to allow them to work as a freelance abroad, particularly in the T20 leagues, although it has not been confirmed if this is the case of Lewis.

None of the West Indian cricket superstars appear on the list of contracts. It was the same year last year, when Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree and Darren Sammy were being offered pro rata contracts based on their performances in the short term.

Last December, CWI CEO Johnny Grave told ESPNcricinfo: "After the amnesty, Gayle and Marlon played in England [in the limited-overs series]if we had won the series and had done a lot of bullfights, I would probably have So I think the coaches want to see them in New Zealand, the Super 50 and the World Cup Qualifiers, but I suspect that at some point in 2018 they will get contracts. "

Gayle played 15 of the West Indies 18 ODI since the start of that England series, which was his first appearance in the West Indies since the 2015 World Cup due to several fights with the board over selection policies. In this period, it averaged 33.73, with one century, two fifty years and a strike rate of 101.40. Gayle was not mentioned in the board press release about the contracts. Given that the 2019 World Cup is eight months away, it remains to be seen what role older people play in the West Indies campaign.

Bates Shimron Hetmyer and Kieran Powell have received red ball contracts this year, updated from the red ball development contracts they received last time. Pacer Shannon Gabriel and Deephand Bishoo also won red-ball contracts, instead of the full-format ones they had last year. Jermaine Blackwood (red ball), Jomel Warrican (red ball), Jason Mohammed (white ball) and Kesrick Williams (white ball) have been removed from the contract list.

Coach chairman Courtney Browne said he handed out separate contracts for red and white ball cricket "allow for better management of the players in terms of their development." When recommending contracts in June, some players They would have developed in different formats after the process had ended, so their recent returns can not be considered until the next contract cycle.
