Sergio Ramos has described Jordi Alba as one of the best defenses in the world, as Spain's new coach, Luis Enrique, passes him by.
A surprising element of Luis Enrique's mandate after his appointment after the World Cup is his deal with left-back Alba, a player with whom he worked at Barcelona.
Alba has not yet been summoned by the 48-year-old, despite the fact that he was previously a key member of the defense of Spain, and captain Ramos says that the coach is leaving aside one of the best in the world .
"I and Jordi Alba played many years together, it is one of the best in the world, as evidenced by its performances and statistics," he said.
"But then the coach is the one doing the line-up, and for our part [the players’] he will always be well received."
Ramos is expected to start in his hometown of Seville on Monday when Spain hosts England in the League of Nations.
