Pakistan openers make Aussies toil in first Test

Dubai – Pakistan openers Mohammad Hafeez and Imam-ul-Haq placed a solid stand of 89 on the first day of the first Test against Australia in Dubai on Sunday.

Hafeez, playing his first test for two years, was unbeaten in 48 and Imam in 36 after Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the draw and opted for hit in a field without grass.

Australia captain Tim Paine brought Nathan Lyon in the ninth, after the duo of Mitchell Starc and Peter Siddle found no help on the field.

Hafeez has so far hit six limits on his 92-ball hit, while Imam hit four fours and a six rotated on left arm Jon Holland, since neither of the two starters seemed to experience any problems hitting.

Starc was returned for a second spell but had no luck, even with his ferocious gorillas while Australia worked hard for a big gh racket.
